Jonathan Savar is a counsel to the firm, where he specializes in a broad array of corporate and commercial matters such as venture capital and private equity transactions; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; joint venture and partnership transactions; capital markets transactions and public securities filings; corporate governance; senior and subordinated debt financings and other loan transactions; restructurings and workouts; and contracts and other commercial arrangements. During the course of his fifteen-year career, Jonathan’s representations have encompassed a wide variety of industries and disciplines, and have included domestic and international corporations, partnerships and other entities (both privately held and publicly traded), venture capital and private equity funds, and financial institutions, as well as their boards of directors and executives.
Prior to joining SORINROYERCOOPER in May 2010, Jonathan was a corporate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Dechert LLP, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, each a preeminent international law firm renowned for their expertise in highly sophisticated corporate, securities, and commercial transactions, financings and other matters, including venture capital and private equity transactions. Following his tenure at Skadden Arps but prior to his return to the active practice of law, Jonathan worked for several years as an investment banker at Macquarie Bank Limited (“Macquarie”) and Capstar Partners (a subsidiary of BNP Paribas) (“BNPP”), where he concentrated on structuring, marketing, negotiating and implementing complex tax-advantaged infrastructure and equipment financings for institutional investors, international corporations and domestic municipal entities. During his tenure at Macquarie and BNPP, Jonathan participated in creating and developing highly profitable lines of business while supervising teams of attorneys, bankers and other professionals in executing these complicated financings.
Jonathan’s diverse legal and investment banking skills and experience enable him to provide sound legal advice to the firm’s clients on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters, whether large or small, in a fashion that appropriately reflects our clients’ needs for practical experience, business judgment and pragmatism in its legal counsel.
